Research Integrity in Action: Lessons, Challenges, and Solutions from the Frontline
In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping every stage of the publishing workflow, scholarly editors and publishers face an urgent question: How do we use AI to support integrity and efficiency without undermining human judgment?
This educational session, hosted by Integra, brings together leaders from major publishers to discuss how AI is being applied responsibly across editorial and peer review workflows, particularly in maintaining research integrity.
While authors may embrace AI for its efficiency, editorial teams often express skepticism and caution. This session aims to bridge that gap with practical, experience-driven perspectives on how to deploy AI thoughtfully, balancing automation with human discernment, scalability with trust.
Discussion Highlights
How much should we rely on AI tools for pre-screening and integrity checks?
Do AI tools truly save editorial teams time — or simply shift effort to later stages?
What is the right balance between AI-driven signals and human validation?
Should all manuscripts still be read by a human before peer review?
How can AI assist reviewers without compromising independent judgment?
What new models of research communication might emerge in an AI-assisted future?
