Integra Wins Two Honors at the CII National AI Awards 2026 for AltPilot and LangPilot
16 Oct 2026
LangPilot also earns the “Most Innovative” distinction in the Best Industry AI Application category
Puducherry, India – October 16, 2026 – Integra has been recognized with two honors at the Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit & CII National AI Awards 2026, presented by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Both awards recognize AI solutions Integra built for academic, scholarly and education publishing:
- Excellence in Best AI Solution Showcase – AltPilot, AI-enabled alt text generation for academic and education publishing
- Excellence in Best Industry AI Application, “Most Innovative” – LangPilot, AI-enabled manuscript assessment and editorial routing for academic and scholarly publishing
AltPilot: Excellence in Best AI Solution Showcase
AltPilot makes accessible, standards-compliant image description practical at the volumes publishers operate. It reads each image in a journal article, textbook or backlist title, classifies it, and writes short alt text and long descriptions that meet WCAG 2.2, Section 508 and ADA requirements.
A bar chart and a chemical structure cannot be described the same way. Integra built AltPilot with subject matter experts across STEM, humanities and social science, whose domain expertise shaped more than 50 category-specific templates so it describes images accurately across subject areas. AltPilot runs as a fully automated solution or within a human-in-the-loop workflow. With human review, an independent model scores each description and that score sets how much review it receives, from a light check to full review by a discipline-matched expert.
In commercial deployment since 2024, AltPilot processes more than 10,000 images a week and delivers:
- 97.7% right-first-time accuracy at human-validated dispatch
- 70% less human review time than fully manual workflows
- 50% lower cost per image
At a leading UK academic publisher, AltPilot raised throughput from 100 to more than 1,500 images a day and cut the time to describe an image by 80%. The recognition comes as publishers face accessibility obligations under the European Accessibility Act and updated ADA Title II rules.
LangPilot: Excellence in Best Industry AI Application, “Most Innovative”
LangPilot decides how much editing an accepted manuscript needs before a copyeditor opens the file. The largest publishers continue to push rising volumes through production, with article output up 10 to 15% in 2025. When copyediting decisions are made manually, they slow speed to market and cause cost leakage, as manuscripts are routed to the wrong level of editing and reworked mid-edit.
LangPilot scores each manuscript’s language and technical quality against the publisher’s own editorial standards and assigns a route: no edit, light edit or heavy edit. The language model proposes; the publisher’s rules engine and a production editor decide. Every routing decision is logged and every edit is approved by a named editor.
LangPilot currently processes more than 1.5 million scholarly manuscript pages a year across multiple publishers and subject areas. In production use it has delivered:
- 3x copyeditor throughput compared with fully manual workflows
- 40% faster speed to market for accepted articles
- 30% lower copyediting costs
- 98% accuracy in language assessment and categorization
At a journal publisher with more than 1,000 journals on the workflow, LangPilot cut the copyediting-level decision from five days to two and delivered savings of up to 40% on copyediting services.
Leadership perspective
“These recognitions matter because both solutions address work our teams know closely,” said Sriram Subramanya, Founder, Managing Director & CEO, Integra. “LangPilot helps teams assess manuscripts consistently before assigning editorial effort, and AltPilot helps them describe complex visuals accurately and at scale. In both, AI does the heavy lifting while publishing expertise stays central to the process. We thank CII and the jury for these honours, our AI solutions and product teams for their continued efforts to solve complex business challenges, and, most importantly, our customers for their trust.”
AltPilot and LangPilot are part of Integra’s suite of AI-enabled workflow solutions, alongside EditorialPilot and ContentPilot, running on shared orchestration. Together they help publishers move trusted content from submission to publication faster, at lower cost and with accessibility built in.
