Integra Wins Gold at SSP’s Inaugural EPIC Awards for Sustainability

29 May 2025

Baltimore, USA | May 29, 2025 — Integra has been awarded the Gold EPIC Award in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Implementation category by the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), as part of its inaugural EPIC (Excellence in Publishing, Information Technology, and Communications) Awards. The recognition was announced during the 2025 SSP Annual Meeting held in Baltimore, Maryland, a global gathering of scholarly publishing leaders, innovators, and changemakers.

Launched to spotlight outstanding contributions across the scholarly publishing ecosystem, the EPIC Awards celebrate achievements in critical areas such as accessibility, equity, sustainability, and innovation.  The Sustainability category, in which Integra competed, specifically recognizes organizations making tangible, systemic efforts to reduce environmental impact and inspire broader change across publishing workflows and operations. Entrants were judged on how effectively their initiatives align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and drive meaningful and sustainable outcomes.  Integra’s Gold recognition in the Sustainability category was conferred for three flagship environmental initiatives:

  • Water Conservation and Aquifer Recharge, aligning with SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – A community-integrated effort to restore and protect water resources through scientifically managed aquifer recharge systems and sustainable water-use practices.
  • Private Forest Creation (Integra’s Private Forestry), supporting SDG 15: Life on Land – A biodiversity-centered afforestation program to develop privately managed green zones that restore native ecology and sequester carbon effectively.

The award is a testament to Integra’s proactive sustainability vision, one deeply rooted in the company’s core values and championed by its leadership for over two decades. Integra’s sustainability pledge includes achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2030, a goal supported by a multifaceted strategy encompassing emission reduction, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable operations.

“At Integra, sustainability is just not an initiative, it is embedded in our ethos,” said Sriram Subramanya, Founder, CEO and Managing Director of Integra. “This recognition by SSP is a proud moment for all of us and reinforces our commitment to environmental stewardship, community impact, and transparent governance. We remain steadfast in our goal to lead by example and deliver long-term value through sustainable practices.”

Sustainability at the Core: A Long-Term Vision

Integra’s journey toward sustainability began in 2000, long before global environmental compliance became mainstream. Guided by a strong internal vision, the organization has built a culture of accountability and purpose. Today, Integra’s sustainability practices align with 11 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), focusing on climate action, clean energy, responsible consumption, gender equality, and inclusive growth.

From installing solar-powered systems and promoting paperless workflows to embracing green procurement, Integra has systematically reduced its carbon footprint while scaling global operations.

EPIC Awards: A Spotlight on Changemakers
